DAY 3 OF THE CHAPTER
Newly Elected Provincial and Council of Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka
Highlights from the Ongoing Chapter in Karnataka Karnataka, [Insert Date] – The third day of the X Provincial Chapter
of the Holy Trinity Province unfolded with spiritual solemnity,
fraternal discernment, and the pivotal election of the new Provincial
Administration.
The day began at 6:15 AM with a solemn adoration service, invoking the
guidance of the Holy Spirit upon the electoral proceedings. At 8:30 AM,
the capitulars assembled in the chapter hall with an opening prayer,
followed by the roll call conducted by Br Joywin Dias.
Chapter President Br Lawrence Soosainathan delivered essential
directives outlining the election process in accordance with the
Statutes of the Province. Subsequently, the chapter secretaries and
scrutineers took the vow of secrecy, initiating the electoral session.
Provincial Elections: The following friars were elected to lead the Holy Trinity
Province: • Br Robin Victor Dsouza – Provincial Minister
• Br Paul Melwyn Dsouza – Vicar Provincial and 1st Councillor
• Br Naveen Santhosh Dsouza – 2nd Councillor
• Br Charles Furtado – 3rd Councillor
• Br Antony Raj (Jr) – 4th Councillor
The afternoon session, which began at 3:00 PM and was moderated by Br
Joseph Dolphy Pais, featured messages of solidarity from across the
Franciscan world. A video greeting from the Provincial of Foggia
conveyed blessings, while Br James Donegan, Councillor of the New York
Province, encouraged the brothers to "walk together in unity and pray
for one another."
Br Paolo Raffaele Pugliese, delegate from the Turkey delegation, offered
a reflection on the life and challenges of friars in Turkey.
At 5:45 PM, the evening session was moderated by Br Alban. A warm
welcome was extended to Br Giacomo Franchini, Provincial of Emilia
Romagna. Delegates then presented mission reports from various regions:
• Br John Baluku, Custos, Charles Lwanga Custody (Uganda)
• Br Stany Roshan, Delegate, Christ the King Delegation (Mizoram-Tripura)
• Br Isaac Baptist, Delegate, Infant Jesus Delegation (Nagaland-Manipur)
Eucharistic Celebration and Handover Ceremony At 7:00 PM, the newly elected Provincial Minister Br Robin Victor
Dsouza, together with his council, presided over the Eucharistic
Celebration. The administration team then took the oath of secrecy. The
former Provincial Minister, Br John Alwyn Dias, ceremonially handed over
the responsibilities by transferring files, keys, and essential
documents.
The day concluded with a felicitation ceremony, warmly acknowledging the
newly elected leadership and entrusting them to the guidance of the Holy
Spirit as they begin their service.
