B. S. Talwadi “Sarastheerada Sobagu” was unveiled A travelogue authored by Dr B. S. Talwadi “Sarastheerada Sobagu” was
unveiled at Sandesha Foundation for Culture and Education, on 2nd August,
2017. by Rt. Rev. Dr. Ignatius D’Souza, Bishop of Bareilly diocese. Speaking
on the occasion, the Bishop lauded the noble task of Dr. Talwadi and his
contribution to Kannada literature. “Dr Talwadi has travelled across the
countries and presented his journey through his panoramic writings” opined
the Bishop.
Bro. Victor Crasta, OFM Cap., the assistant director of Sandesha, briefed
the audience about the book and also about the author. Further he said that
the purpose of releasing the book here at Sandesha was that the author had
received Sandesha award years ago for his contribution in the field of
folklore and also he was a member of Sandesha award jury.
A stalwart in folklore, Dr. Talwadi said, “Travelling and writing is my
passion; it’s a privilege to contribute my mite to the society with my pen”.
He also elucidated the contents of the travelogue. It contains the history,
folklore and the growth of Christianity in the Gangetic plains.
The man with his magic hand has penned 237 books with his magic wand.
‘Sarastheerada sobagu’ is his 238th feather in his hat. Fr. Victor Vijay
Lobo the director of Sandesha welcomed the gathering and Mr. Roy Castelino
one of the trustees of Sandesha proposed the vote of thanks. Fr. Paul Melwyn
D’Souza, OFM Cap. the younger brother of Bishop Ignatius D’Souza and also
the superior of St. Ann’s Friary compered the entire programme.
Dr. B. S. Talwadi’s 238th book “Sarastheerada Sobagu” is dedicated to Bishop
Ignatius D’Souza and the book speaks about the author’s journey to North
India, his experiences, Christian folklore of the places and his
discoveries.
