the Journalism Course - 2017 The valedictory function of the Journalism Course - 2017, organized by
Sandesha Foundation for Culture and Education in collaboration with Canara
Communication Centre and Daijiworld Weekly, was held at Sandesha, Mangalore,
on 6th August, 2017
The programme began with an invocation by Sr. Anitha D’Souza, UFS and Br.
Mervin Manuel Savio welcomed the gathering. Fr Richard, the Director of
Canara Communication Centre shared his experience as the co-ordinator of the
entire programme of 3 weeks. Addressing the gathering Mr. Walter Nandalike,
the founder of Daijiworld Media House said, "journalism is not a one sided
business, rather a great responsibility to build a healthy society".
Chief Guest Mr. B. M. Basheer, the news editor of Vartha Bharathi (a Kannada
daily) spoke on the occasion and encouraged the budding journalists to be
responsible readers and writers.
"Being journalist is a special call from God therefore take this as a
serious responsibility to bring out truth, justice and harmony in the
society", opined, Dr. Aloysius Paul D'Souza, the Bishop of Mangalore. Four
from the participants of the course, shared their enriching experience
during this short term journalism course. Miss. Ashel Mascarenhas delivered
the vote of thanks. Br Rajesh and Miss Reema Sharoni compered the programme.
Director of Sandesha Fr Victor Vijay Lobo, Assistant Director Bro. Victor
Crasta, OFM Cap. and Mr Roy Castalino, one of the trustees of Sandesha were
present on the dais.
