Pastoral Visitation of
Anugraha, Bhalki, Bidar
The word “Anugraha” meaning divine blessing was adopted by the Capuchins of
Karnataka Province when the Halbarga Mission area was handed over to them by
the Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Most Rev. Dr. Aloyisus Paul D’Souza in the
year 2000. Then on Capuchins took great care of the Mission touching the
lives of the people through their pastoral ministry, spiritual animation and
personal approaches through their visits to the remote villages. The recent
education ministry has brought new impetus to the growth of the human and
spiritual formation of the local people.
Rev Fr. John Alwyn Dias, OFM Cap., Provincial Minister undertook pastoral
visitation of the Fraternity of Anugraha, Bidar from 9th to 11th August
2022. The Visitation began with the address of Provincial to the friars: Fr
Sathish Kumar, Superior, Fr Prasanna Kumar, Head-Master and Fr Lawrence
Rodrigues. During the Holy Eucharist which was celebrated by the Provincial
on 10th August 2022, preached a befitting homily, urging everyone to give
their life and time in the service of the poor and marginalized as it was
done by the Saint of the day, Saint Laurence, Martyr and Deacon, who before
the King brought the poor, destitute, marginalized pointed them to the King
saying, “These are the real possession and wealth of the Church”. He died
and won the martyr’s crown of glory. In the same thought of Pope Francis, we
are called upon to go to the periphery and be of service to everyone whom we
encounter in our day to day life.
The Pastoral visitation was also comprised of visit to Most Rev. Dr. Robert
Miranda, the Bishop of Gulbarga Diocese, the local parish priest and a
nearby convent to the Capuchin Community, Anugraha. Provincial was
felicitated by the School Administration whom he addressed with the note of
encouragement and best wishes after which he joined the rally steered by the
School Management on the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee of the
Independence Day of India and it was well appreciated by the people of the
locality. May God bless the mission and the friars who are involved in
bringing the good news and reaching the unreached.
