Seminar At Dashan Institute
of Theology, Bangalore
“With a good company no journey is too long”. The long-awaited Seminar was
conducted at Darshan Institute of Theology Deena Seva Ashram, under the
theme: Communion – Participation – Mission; Synodality in the public square:
Synodality, postmodern consciousness, majoritarianism and public
rationality" on the 13th of August, 2022 from 9.00 to 13.00 hours.
The resource person was Fr. Dr. Jossie Lobo SJ, the Director, Human Resource
Development Centre Ashirvad, Bangalore. The Seminar was inaugurated at 9:00
am, with the invocation of the Holy Spirit and a short prayer service
followed by the lighting of lamp. Thereafter Fr. Dr. Albert Lewis OFM Cap.,
the Director of the Institute welcomed all the guests, followed by the
keynote address by Fr. Dr. Denis Veigas OFM Cap., the Rector of Darshan
Institute of Theology.
Then the resource person of the day was invited to present his theme before
the gathering. He dealt on the Synodality in the public square and mainly
focused on the seven necessary imperatives we need for the practice of
Synodality. Basically, he explained them from religious perspective and from
the secular point of view. Ample of practical examples were given, that
enriched the understanding of the participants. Indeed, it was enlightening
and pushed us to the broader understanding on Synodality, from secular and
Socio-religious perspectives.
After the short refreshment we embarked on to the second session wherein
house was open for the questions and clarifications. Many questions were
asked and all their doubts were clarified. Further he ventured into
requirement for the Synodality which was discussed under the ten principles
and ten hurdles for practicing Synodality.
This seminar was attended by 88 members of various major Seminaries and
sisters of various religious congregations belonging to CRI Kengeri zone. It
was held in high regard by all those who participated. During the Seminar
Bro. Joywin Dias OFM Cap., was felicitated for securing first rank with the
distinction in the BTh 2021-2022 Exam. Finally with the words of gratitude,
by Fr. Santohsh Naveen D’Souza OFM Cap., the Prefect of Theology, the
programme reached its climax. The Seminar was concluded with the Anthem of
the Institute. Lunch was served for all the guests. The participants were
appreciative of the well organised Seminar and went home with contentment
and enlightenment.
