Pastoral Visitation – St
Fidelis Friary, Monte Mariano – Novitiate, Farangipet. It’s a place where the Young Capuchins are formed. A place which
confronts you, challenges you and makes you leave the comfort zone and moves
you to model your affections after those of Christ. The novitiate community
of St Fidelis friary- Monte Mariano, Farangipet, the cradle of Capuchins in
south India, had a grace-filled event of the Pastoral Visitation, by Rev. Fr
John Alwyn Dias, the Provincial Minister from 3-5 August 2023. The Guardian
Br. Manohar Dsouza along with the community members and the novices extended
a warm welcome to the Provincial Minster and also to the provincial
secretary, Br Joywin Dias. The Pastoral Visitation began with an
introductory talk. The following day being the feast of St. John Marie
Vianney, Provincial offered the Holy Eucharist and preached a thoughtful
homily on being devout religious, caring pastors and transforming leaders.
Thereafter he met the friars personally and, in the evening, he also
addressed the novice brothers, encouraging them to move forward with
enthusiasm. The following day after the Holy Eucharist the entire community
visited the cemetery prayed and paid tribute to the friars gone before us.
In the evening there was a community dialogue. The Pastoral Visitation was
concluded with the evening prayer and benediction.
