St. Antonys Feast Celebrated
in a grand manner The Capuchin Friars of Mangalore St Anne’s friary celebrated the feast
of St Anthony in a grand manner. At 12 pm noon in the premises of St
Anthony’s Shrine, the friars gathered along with the devotees of St Anthony
and conducted a prayer service in Kannada. Fr Manohar conducted the prayer,
Fr Melwyn, the guardian inaugurated ‘St Anthony’s Bread for the Poor’, a new
mission of Capuchin Friars. On every Tuesday the Friars will be distributing
the bread to the poor people after a short novena to St Anthony in front the
shrine.
Today all the devotees gathered were distributed with sweets, bread, and
flowers.
In the evening at the 6 clock, a solemn Eucharist was celebrated in honour
of St Anthony. Fr Lancy Rebello presided over the Eucharist and preached a
fitting homily. He invited the faithful to take the inspiration from the
life of St Anthony. ‘Our celebration of Novenas and other devotion should
help us to be inspiring human persons like St Anthony’, he said. Fr Melwyn
brought to the notice of the faithful the contributions done to the poor
through the St Anthony’s fund for the poor. He then thanked each and every
one for making the day’s celebration a memorable one.
