('An Evening of Parables') at Town Hall on Sunday, July 15.
The Capuchin Friars of St Anne's Friary successfully presented their fourth
show of 'Voparinchi Saanz' ('An Evening of Parables') at Town Hall on
Sunday, July 15.
Bishop-elect Fr Dr Peter Paul Saldanha attended as a chief guest the brief
stage programme held prior to the drama. Fr Peter Cyprian D'Souza, Walter
Nandalike, founder, Daijiworld Media Group, Michel D’Souza, NRI
entrepreneur, Sr Lizzy Thomas, principal, Nazreth School, Suresh Attavar,
founder, Chakrapani Nruthyalaya, Br Victor Craata, and Fr Paul Melwyn
D’Souza, were present.
Appreciating the artists and gathering who attended the show Fr Peter Paul
said, “With the intention of simplifying his teachings, Jesus Christ used
parables in his life. He himself became a centre character in every parable.
He gave a clear picture on the God’s kingdom through parables. The parables
contain a moral message. He gave us an option for either supporting or
opposing the moral which was hidden in the parable. It means parables
teaches us to take a decision.
“Fr Melwyn and the entire Capuchin Fairy in the city is trying to spread the
messages of parables which was used by Jesus Christ, through this musical
drama. Definitely, their attempt will work out and it will help spread
goodness in the society. The viewers should find out the character of Jesus
in this drama and should take it to their homes,” he said.
Walter Nandalike said, “After watching the musical drama’s first show at Don
Bosco Hall, I suggested Fr Melwyn to organize it on an open ground. This art
form should reach thousands of people on a single presentation. Today, I am
surprised that without any publicity, Fr Melwyn and his team has succeeded
to make houseful their fourth show. There are no arguments on artists’
performance, direction and other areas of the drama. The drama has already
gained huge appreciation from viewers wherever it was presented. We should
support these types of dramas. Of course, 'An Evening of Parables’ is a new
trend in Konkani and it should continue.”
Wishing success to the programme, Michel D Souza said, “The audience which
gathered here proves how the musical drama 'An Evening of Parables’ has
created waves in Konkani. It shows that our people always accept good and
positive things. Capuchin Fathers are always known for dedication and
commitment on their mission. By the musical drama, they are taking us to
close to art and music. It will help our life in one way or another.”
In his speech, Fr Peter Cyprian congratulated Fr Paul Melwyn and all artists
of the show. He appreciated their hard work and thanked the gathering for
their support. Fr Paul Melwyn welcomed the dignitaries and gathering.
Meanwhile, ‘Vizmithan’, a devotional music album by Fr Paul Melwyn released
by Fr Dr Peter Paul Saldanha. VJ Angeline compered the event.
'Voparinchi Saanz' is written and directed by Fr Melwyn Paul D'Souza and
choreographed by Suresh Attavar. The students of Nazareth School and
well-known artistes of Mangaluru have acted in the musical drama.
The first show of 'Voparinchi Saanz' was held at Don Bosco hall and received
wide appreciation from art lovers. The play had enthralled the audience
because of its superb script, direction and acting. Two more shows were held
much to the demand and excitement of viewers.
