Ordination to Diaconate “Believe what you read, teach what you Believe and Practice what you
Teach.” The Diaconal Ordination of our 7 Capuchin brothers, 2 from Karnataka
namely Bros Christopher Rodrigues , Paul Olwyn D’Almeida, 2 from Goa,
namely Bros Jerry Fernandes, Sanny Fernandes and 3 TOR brothers namely
Bros Sumitbilsan Tigga, Matias Kandulna and Wilson Lugunwas was being
held at Darshan Theologate on June 29, 2018, on the Solemnity of St.
Peter and St. Paul.
His Grace Rt. Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Arch Bishop Emeritus of the
diocese of Bangalore, ordained our brothers to the Order of deacons. In
the homily His Grace, Dr. Bernard Moras emphasized on the very ministry
of Deacons, that is, we are to be at the service of the Church,
Sacraments and the Liturgy. Fr. Joseph Dolphy Pais, the Provincial
minister of the Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka and Fr. Waldheim
Rodrigues, the Provincial Minister from St. Anthony Province Goa, were
present along with many guest priest from far and near. Parents,
relatives and near and dear ones of our brothers were here to share in
the joy of our brothers. Angelic choir by the brothers also enhanced the
liturgy of the Day.
After the holy Eucharist a short and sweet felicitation program was
organized for the newly ordained Deacons in the Chapel. Br. Sandeep
D’souza compeered the felicitation program. Rev. Fr. Salvador Fernandes,
the Rector welcomed the gathering after which the provincial minister,
Fr. Jospeh Dolphy Pais congratulated the deacons. His Grace also called
upon the deacons to be the worthy ministers of the Word and the
Sacraments. Br. Christopher Rodrigues expressed a few words of Gratitude
on behalf of the Deacons. Our celebration came to an end with the agape.
Indeed, it was a great day for us.
