5th ST. PIO DELEGATION ASSEMBLY - SRI LANKA, 16-21 JUNE 2022
The 5th assembly of St Pio Delegation, Sri Lanka, began today 16th June
2022 at Pallansena, Sri Lanka. The same theme of the Provincial Chapter
is taken for this assembly, namely, "Communion, Participation and
Mission" A Synodal Journey as Capuchin Franciscans.
Rev. Fr. John Alwyn Dias, the Provincial Minister of the Holy Trinity
Province of Karnataka, India, is presiding over the Assembly of the
seven brothers present. In his inaugural address, during the Holy
Eucharist, he thanked the Blessed Trinity for their manifold blessings
on the Province and its missions. He first remembered all the pioneers
and the friars who have toiled long and hard for the growth of this
delegation. He also hailed and encouraged all the brothers who are part
of this delegation and requested that they wholly give themselves to
this mission. It has already reached a certain height and now every
friar has to take it to a greater level. He invited the brothers to love
more the vocation, mission and the charism of St. Francis, and called
upon all the brothers to always look up to God Most High and go forward
facing all the challenges. He emphasized that God always guides,
strengthens and empowers all of us who are his chosen ones.
At 9.00 am he officially opened the august assembly with a meaningful
prayer service and the lighting of the lamp. Christ is the Light of the
world, and in His Light we all go ahead during this triennium and
radiate Christ’s Love and Mercy to all, just like St. Francis. Br.
Provincial briefed the assembly about the life and activities of the
Province and also stressed on spreading the flame of St. Francis
everywhere. He presented the picture of the whole province’s
administration. Thus the 1st day of the assembly concluded with the Holy
Hour thanking and praising the Lord for His wonderful call and the
beautiful mission. May St Pio guide and intercede for all of us!
