Inauguration of the Academic Year and the Lectio Brevis at Kripalaya
Kripalaya, the Institute of philosophy and religion situated in Bogadi
of Mysuru District - Karnataka, is affiliated to the Faculty of
Philosophy of Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram, Bengaluru and is an Institute
for Ecclesiastical Higher Studies. The Inauguration of the Academic Year
2024-25 and the Lectio Brevis was held on 18 June 2024.
The day began with the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the
morning. At 10 o’clock, a con-celebrated mass of the Holy Spirit was
presided over by Rev. Fr Paul Melwyn D’Souza, the Rector of Kripalaya
and the Vicar Provincial of Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka (HTP). In
his homily, he invited all the brothers to make a difference in one’s
own and in others life during this academic year. A High-Tea was
organized soon after the mass.
Lectio Brevis of the Academic Year began at 11:30 a.m. in the Auditorium
of Kripalaya. Rev. Fr Richard Menezes OCD - the Director and Superior of
Dhyana Sadhana, the Centre for Holistic Spirituality - Bogadi, Mysuru
was the Chief Guest of the day. He unveiled the Academic Calendar of the
year and delivered a Key-note address on ‘the Philosophical Approach to
life’. Speaking on the importance of philosophical studies as future
priests, he invited the students to venture into critical thinking and
to love the endevour of gaining wisdom while wondering at the beauty of
life. He wished the students and the staff to give the best in their
academic pursuit. All enjoyed the grand meal graced on the occasion,
soon after the Lectio Brevis.
Br Donald D’Souza (HTP) compared the Lectio Brevis and Br Albinus from
Nirmala Matha Custody: Assam-Meghalaya (NMC) accorded a cordial welcome
through his welcome speech. Br Thomson Regi from Krist Jyoti Province
North-West India (KJP) presented a mesmerizing video and showed the
glimpses of Kripalaya. Rev. Fr Prashanth Noronha, the Vice Rector and
the Dean of Studies presented the Academic Calendar and the various
programmes of the year. All the residential teaching staff explained the
courses that they would be dealing during the year and wished the
students very best in their studies. Br Ashton Lobo from Holy Trinity
Province rendered the vote of thanks. During the occasion of Lectio
Brevis, a new Anthem of Kripalaya was released. During this Academic
Year, 18 brothers from HTP, 9 brothers from KJP and 9 brothers from NMC
would be pursuing their Ecclesiastical studies in Philosophy.
Kripalaya stands indebted to Rev. Fr John Alwyn Dias, the Provicial of
Holy Trinity Province Karnataka and the Moderator of the Institute for
his guidance and financial assistance to the Institute. Kripalaya is
also grateful to Rev. Fr Raphie Paliakara, the Provincial of Krist Jyoti
Province North-West India and Rev. Fr Renny Velayapallil, the Custos of
Nirmala Matha Custody Assam-Meghalaya for placing their trust in the
formation given at Kripalaya by sending their students to the Institute.
