PASTORAL VISIT OF REV DR JAMES TOPPIL, BISHOP OF KOHIMA AND HOLY
COMMUNION, CONFIRMATION IN ST CLARE CHURCH, AKULUTO – NAGALAND
Catholic faithful of St Clare catholic Church, Akuluto had an
opportunity to have the Pastoral visit of Most Rev Dr James Thoppil,
Bishop of Kohima on 29th and 30th June 2024. Bishop arrived to the
centre on 29th at 5 pm to the priest’s residence. At the arrival he went
through all the documents related to the church as well as school and
signed them all.
30th June at 09.45 am he was welcomed by all the catholic faithful of
Akuluto with a Bouquet offered on behalf of community by Ms Livika. The
solemn visitation mass began at 10 am presided by the Lordship. On this
occasion 13 of the catholic faithful received holy sacrament of
confirmation and three received holy communion. Those who received Holy
confirmation were Mr Hukheto Jacob, Mrs Pitoli Miriam, Mrs Lika Flora,
Mr Tokiho Thomas, Mrs Nijeli Martha, Mr Vihoqhe Andrew, Mrs Nigholi, Mr
Yekuto Daniel, Zovi and Roko, Vina Precilla, Lishi Agnes and Kaune
Mercy. 3 little angels who received the holy communion were Elibo
Angela, Ladika Junia & Limugha Lucy. Bishop was honoured by Fr Stephen,
Fr James and Catholic community with a Sumi shawl, a bouquet and a
certificate of appreciation for the visit. A Pastoral council meeting
was organized after the mass during which Bishop beautifully explained
the importance of giving Tithe as well as reason for having Parish
council in every Parish. He said, “The work of Parish Council members is
to encourage the people to come closer to Christ, help out the Priests
in the church activities and become the instruments of spreading the
Gospel of Christ.” Thereafter in the Church premise a fellowship meal
was served to all the gathered faithful to add joy to the celebration of
Bishop’s visit.
