ST. CLARE SCHOOL OBSERVES INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY WITH ENTHUSIASM
St. Clare School, Akuluto joined the rest of the world in celebrating
International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025, with a special yoga session
organized for students from Classes 7 to 10. The event was held in the
school auditorium and was led by Sir Krishna Panika, who conducted the
session with energy and clarity, leaving the students both physically
refreshed and mentally uplifted.
The International Day of Yoga, which was initiated by the United Nations
in 2015, aims to raise awareness worldwide about the many benefits of
practicing yoga. True to this spirit, St. Clare School took the
opportunity to instill the values of physical well-being, mental peace,
and spiritual discipline among its students.
The event began with a brief introduction on the importance of yoga in
daily life, highlighting its relevance in the modern era where stress,
anxiety, and a sedentary lifestyle are common among both youth and
adults.
Sir Krishna Panika began the session by demonstrating simple breathing
exercises (pranayama) and explained their benefits in calming the mind
and improving lung capacity. This was followed by a step-by-step
practice of several yoga asanas, including Tadasana (Mountain Pose),
Vrikshasana (Tree Pose), Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose), Trikonasana
(Triangle Pose) and Shavasana (Corpse Pose).
Each posture was not only performed but also thoroughly explained by Sir
Krishna. He shared the benefits of each asana, such as improved posture,
digestion, muscle strength, and mental relaxation. Students listened
attentively and followed his instructions with interest and discipline.
One of the highlights of the session was the interactive explanation of
how yoga affects the body and mind. “Yoga is not just about bending your
body,” said Sir Krishna, “but about understanding the connection between
breath, mind, and movement.” He motivated the students to take at least
15 minutes each morning to practice yoga for a healthier life.
The students actively participated in the session, performing the asanas
with enthusiasm and sincerity. By celebrating International Yoga Day,
St. Clare School not only aligned with a global initiative but also
strengthened its commitment to nurturing healthy minds and bodies among
its students.
