Inauguration of Infant Jesus Friary and Chapel, the new mission of Infant
Jesus Delegation Nagaland - Manipur
A momentous occasion unfolded in Kuhuboto, Niuland District, as the new
Capuchin friary and chapel under the Infant Jesus delegation of Manipur and
Nagaland was officially inaugurated on Monday 3rd March 2025 at 4 pm. The
inauguration ceremony was led by Fr John Alwyn Dias, Provincial Minister of
Holy Trinity Province Karnataka, while the church was solemnly blessed by
Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima Diocese in the presence of
clergy, religious men and women, lay faithful, Catholic community, teachers,
leaders of the Kuhuboto village and well-wishers. On this occasion, Fr
Roshan Sequiera the treasurer of Infant Jesus Delegation as well as the
treasurer of infant Jesus new mission anchored the liturgical ceremony.
Prior to the inauguration, Fr Alwyn Dias blessing the Computer Lab prayed
for all the benefactors who had helped financially.
The newly established mission of Capuchins under the patronage of Infant
Jesus, marks a significant step in the spiritual and educational upliftment
of the region. In a heartfelt thanksgiving speech, Fr. Alwyn Dias extended
his deep gratitude to all those who played a vital role in the journey of
the new mission. Speaking with warmth and appreciation, he thanked the
Bishop for granting a new mission to the Capuchins. He also thanked Fr Isaac
Rodrigues the Delegate of Infant Jesus Delegation for his dedication and
responsibility in overseeing the process of the mission, recognizing his
unwavering commitment to its progress. He also took a moment to sincerely
thank the benefactors whose generous financial contributions made a
significant impact on the mission’s development. Their support, he noted,
has been instrumental in bringing the vision closer to reality.
In his address, he expressed his deep appreciation to all the Capuchin
Friars of the Infant Jesus Delegation for their constant encouragement and
unwavering support. Their solidarity and prayers, he emphasized, have been a
source of strength throughout this endeavor.
Furthermore, he extended his gratitude to the Delegate of Christ the King
Delegation Fr Stany, along with the friars of the delegation, for their
financial assistance and for gracing the occasion with their presence. Their
contributions, both material and spiritual, have played a pivotal role in
establishing the new mission.
Ending on a note of unity and hope, Fr. Alwyn emphasized that this mission
stands as a testament to the collective effort of all those involved. He
called upon everyone to continue walking together in faith and service,
ensuring that the mission flourishes for the greater good.
The centre in-charge and Guardian of the new mission, Fr. Brayan Dsouza,
expressed heartfelt gratitude to Fr Isaac the Delegate for all the support,
the Capuchin Friars of the Infant Jesus Delegation for the encouragement,
the Friars of Christ the King Delegation for their unwavering support and
presence on this auspicious day. He also thanked Fr Alwyn Dias for his
encouragement, the teachers, leaders of Kuhuboto Village for their support.
The event witnessed a large gathering of well-wishers, who joined in prayers
and celebrations to mark this milestone in the region’s faith journey. The
celebration concluded with the sumptuous meal, which added joy to the
festivity. The new mission of Capuchins in Kuhuboto is expected to serve as
a beacon of faith, education, and social service in the vicinity of Kuhuboto
Village.
