Women’s day Celebration 11 March 2025
“Every Woman’s success should be an inspiration to another. We’ re the
strongest when we cheer each other on”
The Women’s Day Celebration was held on 11th March by Vimukti SHG Federation
and Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra® in Banakal with great enthusiasm, focusing
on the theme "Women’s Good Health, Family’s Good Health." The event aimed to
highlight the importance of women’s well-being as the foundation of a
healthy family and community.
The program commenced with the procession march in Banakal which was
inaugurated by Fr. Thomas, Asst. Priest of Our Lady of Nativity Church,
Banakal and Mrs. Athika Banu, the president of Vimukti SHG Federation. The
women walked in procession raising awareness through placards against
atrocities that women undergo in the society. The depiction of Mother India
under whose shelter we are all united and brave women like Kittur Rani
Chennamma, Savitri Ba Phule, Mother Theresa, Onakke Obbavva increase the
beauty of the procession.
Later the celebration was continued in the Church Hall, Banakal. Fr.
Fredrick Braggs, the Secretary of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra®, Ujire
presided over the celebration. Dr. Kavyashri HL, BAMS and all the
dignitaries inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. Fr. Prem Dsouza,
Parish Priest of Our Lady of Nativity Church, Banakal, Mrs. Renuka,
Sub-Inspector of Banakal Police station, Mrs. Zarina, President of Banakal
Gram Panchyath, Fr. Edwin Dsouza, Director, Mrs. Athika Banu, President of
Vimukti SHG Federation and board members were on the dais. Fr. Edwin
highlighted the importance of the day and welcomed all the dignitaries. Mrs.
Renuka, in her address said that women should take time first to love
themselves. You are not things and dustbins to be used and thrown out, you
are equal, you have the ability to achieve great heights and therefore take
care of your health. She also advised that every girl child in your family
should be give equal opportunities for their talents and interests. Do not
think of giving in marriage as soon as the girls come to the marriage rather
allow her to achieve dreams. Dr. Kavyashri in her talk emphasized the
various factors and tips based on Ayurvedic medicines that every woman
should follow. Healthy food and lifestyle are very important to enjoy good
health, and this has to be given utmost importance. Fr. Prem said that every
woman faces lot of challenges in her life, but God has equally given
strength to win over those challenges. In today’s society men need support
of a woman in everything whereas women can lead her life independently.
Fr. Fredrick in his presidential address highlighted that woman should be an
inspiration for every family and society. When women are healthy the family
will be healthy and when family is healthy the society will be healthy. The
prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions held by the
organization. Fr. Joel Lopez, Fr. Thomas, Mrs. Lavina Fernandes, Mr.
Siddanth, Mr. Naveen Kumar, the coordinator and elected women members of
various panchyath and Mrs. Vindhya, the staff were present for the
celebration. After the lunch various innovative cultural programs were
presented by the women. Nearly 350 Women actively participated in whole day
celebration. The event concluded with the recognition of women’s
contributions to their families and society, inspiring them to lead
healthier and happier lives. The celebration successfully reinforced the
message that a healthy woman leads to a healthy family and a thriving
society.
