FUNERAL OF REV. FR. VITUS PRABHUDAS PINTO OFM CAPUCHIN Fr Vitus Prabudas Pinto, Capuchin friar of Karnataka Holy Trinity
Province who passed away on April 30, was laid to rest at St Fidelis Friary
cemetery, Farangipate here on Tuesday, 2 May amid a large number of mourners
including friends, family, and well-wishers.
Bishop Aloysius Paul Dsouza presided over the Eucharistic celebration along
with good many diocesan and religious priests. In his Introduction, he
remembered the good old school days he had spent with Fr Vitus at Agrar,
Bantwal. He recalled the beautiful religious life lived by Fr Vitus and
invited the faithful to pray for his departed soul.
Fr Joachim preached a poetic homily and reminded us the richness of the
spring of eternal life that we would receive after we leave this mortal
earth.
Fr Rupert Barboza delivered a well prepared Obituary and made known to the
faithful the great achievements of Fr Vitus during the earthly journey.
Fr Melwyn, the guardian of St Anne’s Friary thanked all those who came to
the aide during the last days of Fr Vitus.
Between 1.00 pm and 2.30 pm, the mortal remains were kept for public viewing
at St Anne’s Friary where hundreds of people paid their last respects. A
holy mass was celebrated at 1.30pm for those people who couldn’t go to the
burial ceremony at Farangipate.
