TWO CAPUCHIN FRIARS FROM MIZORAM ORDAINED AS PRIESTS Two deacons from Mizoram were ordained to the priesthood by the Bishop
of Aizawl, Stephen Rotluanga, CSC, DD, on Saturday, April 29 at a ceremony
held at St Mary’s Church, Aizawl, Mizoram. The newly ordained priests Fr
David Lalduhkima and Fr Joseph S Deihgin belong to the Order of Capuchins
Minor and they are members of the Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka. Bishop
Stephen in his homily invited the new priests to become ‘missionary
disciples.’ He further added that “you should try and work on through your
priesthood to be missionary disciples.”
Fr Alwyn Dias, OFM Cap, the Provincial Minister of Karnataka appreciated
with gratitude the generosity and goodwill of the bishop who ordained the
new priests. He also remembered and thanked the parents of the new priests
for offering their sons to the Church as Capuchin priests.
The Capuchin Friars of the Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka praise God for
the eight new priests this year. The Holy Trinity Province of Karnataka, is
entrusted with the Custody of Uganda; three Delegations, namely, Infant
Jesus Delegation (Nagaland-Manipur); Christ the King Delegation (Mizoram-Tripura-Silchar
Barak Valley) and St Pio Delegation, Sri Lanka, by the Order of the Capuchin
Friars Minor.
More than two hundred Capuchin priests of the province are actively involved
in the work of evangelization in North-East, Madhya Pradesh, Sri Lanka,
Uganda, Japan, Middle East-Gulf, Italy, Turkey, New York, Guam, Canada,
Jerusalem and in various districts of Karnataka.
