Temporary Profession of Four Capuchin Friars at St Fidelis Friary, Monte
Mariano, Farangipet, Mangalore.
It was Joyous occasion for the Capuchin friars of the Holy Trinity Province,
Karnataka as four of our brothers, Br Shawn Mendonca, Br Cristan Santhis, Br
Nithesh Anil Walder and Br Joel Coelho made their Temporary Profession on
Thursday, 16 May 2024 at St Fidelis Friary, Monte Mariano, Farangipet,
Mangalore.
The Capuchin Franciscan Order, is known for its commitment to poverty,
simplicity, Celibacy and deep spirituality. One of the most significant
events within the order is the celebration of the religious commitment made
by the friars. This event marks the ceremony of public profession of vows
where the friars pledge to live according to the evangelical counsels of
poverty, chastity, and obedience.
The vows of their Temporary Profession were received by Fr Paul Melwyn
D’Souza, the Vicar Provincial of Holy Trinity Province Karnataka who
presided over the Eucharistic celebration. Novice Master, Fr Jeevan D’Mello,
presented the Friars to the Vicar Provincial to receive their vows.
The ceremony was solemnized by the presence of Fr Robin Victor DSouza and Fr
Vijay Kumar, the Provincial Councillors, and many Capuchin friars, Priests,
Religious, parents, brothers and sisters, benefactors and near and dear ones
who witnessed the ceremony of Temporary Profession. After the Holy Mass a
short felicitation program was held where the Temporarily Professed Friars
were felicitated along with their parents.
We Congratulate our brothers who committed themselves to a life of poverty,
chastity, and obedience, following in the footsteps of Christ and St.
Francis of Assisi our Father and Patron. We wish them all the best as they
embrace a life of simplicity, humility, and selflessness dedicated to
serving God and their fellow human beings.
