Seminar on Sacrosanctum Concilium and Lumen Gentium
Darshan Institute of Theology, affiliated to St. Peter’s Pontifical
Institute, Bangalore was thrilled to organize a Seminar on two
Vatican II Council Documents, Sacrosanctum Concilium and Lumen
Gentium on November 23, 2024, as a preparation for the Jubilee Year
2025. The seminar was animated by the two esteemed erudite
Theologians: Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Dias, a professor of Sacred
Liturgy at St. Peter's Pontifical Institute and Rev. Fr. Dr. Baptist
Rodrigues OFM Cap., a professor of Church History and Systematic
Theology at Darshan Institute of Theology. The seminar was attended
by some of the Capuchin Friars of Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka,
religious priests, sisters, brothers and seminarians belonging to
CRI, Kengeri zone and Jesuits from Anekal, who were around 135 in
number. Br. Troyden Neil D Souza OFM Cap. compered the seminar.
The programme of the day began at 8:45 am, with the invocation of
God’s Blessings by the Students of Darshan Institute of Theology,
followed by the welcome address by Fr. Dr. Albert Lewis OFM Cap.,
the Director of the Institute. The first session on ‘Sacrosanctum
Concilium, The Constitution on Sacred Liturgy’ began at 9:15 am,
which was animated by Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Dias; who through his
scholarly expertise elaborated and dealt in depth, touching each and
every aspect of the document. This was followed by the tea break.
The Second Session began at 11:05 am on the document ‘Lumen Gentium,
the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church’. This was dealt by Rev. Fr.
Dr. Baptist Rodrigues OFM Cap., who shed the light on the document
enlightening the minds of everyone on the pivotal aspects of the
Church. Both the sessions ended with the fruitful interactive
discussion between resource persons and the participants. The
participants were glad to receive the valuable and essential
teachings of the Catholic Christian faith. They also felt contended
to have their practical doubts cleared by the two great stalwarts.
The Rector of Deena Seva Ashram, Rev. Fr. Dr. Denis Gabriel Veigas
OFM Cap., thanked each and every one, who was instrumental for the
success of the Seminar. Finally, by singing the Anthem of the
Institute the seminar was concluded. This was followed by the
sumptuous agape meal along with all the participants.
