2nd Oct. 2013 OFS Penitents’ day
Today the OFS members from Mangalore and Bantwal regions gathered at Monte Mariano chapel to celebrate the penitents’ day as a preparation for the feast of our seraphic father Francis. We were delighted to have Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop of Mangalore as the main celebrant. As a tradition, along with the Bishop, all the OFS penitents and brothers had a procession from Arkula to Monte Marino. It was a prayerful moment for all of us. The procession was followed by adoration in our chapel conducted by Rev. Fr. Darrel OFM Cap. During the adoration the sacrament of reconciliation was held. Later we had a Eucharistic celebration offered by bishop and all other concelebrants along with the OFS penitents. along with the brothers of the community, Fr. Manohar, the newly appointed spiritual assistance for OFS was present. After the mass, a light meal was served to all those who gathered. There were nearly 250 penitents who participated in this celebration. It was a really meaningful preparation for the feast of St. Francis our founder.
