DAY OUT OF NAGALAND UNIVERSITY CATHOLIC YOUTH
Catholic of Nagaland University had a day out to Tishi River (Sutemi
Village) near to Akuluto Town on Wednesday, 2nd October 2024 on the day
of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi. The Picnic was arranged by the NCYM of NU
officials namely the President Ms Neizetuonuo Bernadette Dziivichii,
General Secretary Ms K. Chunchun, Finance Secretary Mr Colin Hega,
Liturgy Incharge Ms Kelevonu Angela Thapo, and Music Secretary Mr Avupi
Benedict Khizo. It was arranged with the guidance and suggestion of Fr
Stephen Dsouza, Capuchin the Parish Priest of St Clare Church Akuluto
who is their Spiritual guide. The purpose of the outing was to
strengthen the bond of the students, to know one another, to mingle and
enjoy the oneness of one another. Around 25 students began their journey
to Tishi river from Nagaland University at 8.30 am in three different
vehicles and reached the destination at 10 am. Fr Stephen Dsouza and Br
Edmund joined the students around 11 am. Tishi River has a beautiful
landscape with the flowing of streams and greenery around. All the
students after reaching the spot began to cook the food. Thereafter Fr
Stephen and Bro Edmund conducted several games which included filling
the water in the bottles, breaking the balloons, running race in the
water and picking the tea cups. Thereafter students spent time playing
in the water, swimming and enjoying in the beautiful nature. Around 2 pm
all gathered round the banana leaves, sitting in the river bank to have
the common meal. Thanks to Mr Vixeshe Peter the chairman of Sutemi
Village who granted permission to have the picnic in Tishi River.
