ST CLARE GIRLS WON SECOND RUNNERS UP TROPHY(VOLLEYBALL MATCH) IN CEDOK
GAMES MEET 2024
All Nagaland Catholic Schools Games meet 2024 was held at Chumoukedima
with over 1000 students from 35 schools across Nagaland participating in
the competition from October 9-10. The two-day event, organized by the
Commission for Education Diocese of Kohima (CEDOK), featured
competitions in football, volleyball and Basketball for both boys and
girls in the junior and senior categories.
In a press release, CEDOK secretary Rev. Fr. Dr. Jacob Charalel informed
that the games were hosted at various venues including St. Joseph Hr
Sec. School, Chumoukedima, Tenyphe Village, St. Anthony School, Tenyiphe
and Carmel Hr Sec. School, Chekiye Village. Speaking at the inaugural
function as special guest on October 9, 2024, the advisor for youth
resources and sports, Keoshu Yimkhiung, acknowledged the contribution of
the Catholic Church to Education and Sports. He said “the games meet is
not just an event; it is festival of passion, discipline, teamwork and
respect for one another”.
Yimkhiung encouraged the students to celebrate not only sportsmanship
but also unity, comradeship, and shared spirit of excellence.
Earlier on the day, Rev. Fr. Dr. Jacob Charalel, welcomed the guests,
invitees and delegates for the meet and said that the meet was organized
to provide opportunities for students in Catholic Schools from all over
the state to come together, interact with each other, learn from one
another and build up community spirit among students, irrespective of
tribal affiliations.
In his message, the Bishop acknowledged the special grace of God over
the meet in keeping the venue free from rain, while all surrounding
areas had heavy rain.
He thanked the organizers for the successful conduct of the games and
encouraged the participants to celebrate not just victories but also the
friendship and experiences that emerged from this event. Nozasol
Charles, State Information Commissioner, Govt. of Nagaland joined the
Bishop in giving away the trophies to the winners. St. Francis De Sales
Hr Sec. School, Medziphema emerged over all Champions of the event. Rev.
Fr. Philip Y Lotha, Joint Secretary, CEDOK proposed the vote of thanks.
In this Games Meet 7 boys and 7 girls of St Clare School Akuluto
participated in Junior Category Volleyball match. All the students were
accompanied by Fr Stephen Dsouza the Headmaster, Fr James Furtado Asst
Headmaster and Sir Krishna Panika who left from Akuluto to Dimapur on
8th October at 5.30 am. At 3 pm all reached to Dimapur and were taken to
the place of accommodation to two schools namely St Joseph School,
Chumoukedima and Carmel School Chekiye, Dimapur. In the competition boys
were knocked out from the quarter finals whereas the girls won the
second runners up trophy and brought laurels to the school. All the
students returned back to Akuluto on October 11, in two vehicles along
