St. Clare School witnessed a heartfelt farewell ceremony for its
beloved Assistant Headmaster, Fr. James Furtado, on Friday, the
26th, at the school auditorium. The event, which began at 9:00 a.m.,
was attended by members of the advisory board, distinguished guests,
teaching staff, and students, all eager to honour the dedicated
years of service rendered by Fr. Furtado to the institution.
The programme was graced by Mr. Vikeshe Peter and Mr. Kughato
Justin, advisory board members, along with several other invited
guests. The day’s proceedings were skillfully managed by the Masters
of Ceremony, Ms. Kali and Mr. Isabe, whose warm introductions and
smooth coordination kept the atmosphere lively and respectful.
The farewell began with a series of cultural performances presented
by the students of St. Clare School. Through songs, dances, and
skits, the students expressed their gratitude and admiration for Fr.
Furtado, showcasing their affection in creative ways. The
performances reflected the deep bond shared between the departing
Assistant Headmaster and the student community.
One of the highlights of the programme was the formal welcome of the
new Assistant Headmaster, Fr. Melwyn Anthony. He was warmly received
by Fr. Stephen D’Souza, the Headmaster of St. Clare School, who
extended his support and encouragement to the new appointee while
assuring the continuity of leadership and guidance for the school.
In his farewell address, Fr. Stephen D’Souza recalled the remarkable
contributions of Fr. James. He praised his sincerity, discipline,
and commitment to the holistic growth of students. Fr. D’Souza
highlighted how Fr. James inspired both staff and students with his
humility, dedication, and strong moral character. His speech was
filled with appreciation and gratitude, which visibly touched the
gathering.
Following this, Mrs. Lika delivered a farewell speech on behalf of
the teaching staff. She expressed the collective sentiments of the
teachers, acknowledging the mentorship, encouragement, and support
that Fr. James had extended to his colleagues. Her words reflected
both pride in having worked alongside him and sorrow at his
departure.
As the formal programme concluded, all attendees were invited to a
farewell meal, thoughtfully arranged for the staff and guests. This
gesture of hospitality provided an opportunity for everyone to share
memories, offer personal wishes, and celebrate the contributions of
Fr. James in a more informal setting.
The event marked not just the end of a chapter for Fr. James Furtado,
but also the beginning of a new one for St. Clare School, as it
welcomed Fr. Melwyn Anthony to the fold. The farewell was a reminder
of the values of gratitude, respect, and community that the school
upholds.
The ceremony ended on a note of fond remembrance and optimism, with
staff and students alike cherishing the legacy left behind by Fr.
James and looking forward to the leadership of Fr. Melwyn.
St. Clare School, through this touching farewell, once again
demonstrated its deep sense of family and togetherness, ensuring
that its leaders are celebrated not only for their professional
roles but also for the values they instill in the hearts of the
community.
