KRIPALAYA- Seminar on the concept of God in Ramanuja and Madhva 21st august, 2014 was the day in
Kripalaya where from Indian Philosophy, the seminar on the concept of
God in Ramanuja and Madhva was held which was organized by the dean of
Studies, Fr. Rocky D’Cunha. Prof. V.N. Sehagiri Rao was the resource
person for the seminar. It was attended by all the inmates of Kripalaya,
neighbouring religious both men and women, including our hostelites who
showed equal interest to attend the same. It began at 3.00 p.m., as at
first the brothers invoked God’s blessing through a bhajan which was
followed by a welcome speech by Fr. Rocky, and thereafter Fr. Vincent
Furtado introduced the key speaker Prof. V. N. Sehagiri Rao.
In the very beginning of the first session Prof. V.N. Sehagiri Rao took
pride in quoting a biblical quotation and two similar quotations from
the writings of Ramanuja and Madhva. For the great Indian thinker, Sir.
Ramanuja “God is the most beautiful on the earth” , where as Madhva
feels that “world without God is empty and nothingness”. The seriousness
in his talk and a sense of humour to supplement made the topic very
interesting. After the first session there was a tea break followed by
the second session wherein he elaborated the concept of God, Self and
World according to these two great Indian thinkers. The second session
was concluded by a general session, wherein some doubts were clarified
by the speaker. This was followed by a vote of thanks by Fr. Rector, who
appreciated and thanked the professor for his scholarly presentation on
the topic God according to Ramanuja and Madhva. He also thanked all the
persons who contributed their best for the success of the seminar.
