Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Saccidananda
September 8 brings loads of joy to celebrate the birth of our heavenly
mother Mary and to thank God for the fruits of our beloved mother earth.
The novena was help in our chapel as a preparation to the celebration
every evening attended by our friends from the neighborhood. The festal
mass was presided over by Fr Deepak Fernandes who explained the
importance of Mother Mary in our life, the significance of mother earth
and family in his homily in Konkani.
The faithful were given blessed corn and sugar cane as is the tradition.
The community lunch was tasty and colorful with plenty of vegetarian
dishes on the plantain leaf.
On the following Monday, the extended family of Saccidananda joined us
for a family dinner. Every family brought a special dish which was
shared by all. The sharing of food indeed had lead us to sharing of joy
and goodwill for one another.
