Monti Fest at DSA
In preparation to the Nativity of BVM, nine days of novena was
conducted by the brothers of DSA. On the 7th, a grand Marian Vigil
service was held at the grotto of Our Lady with the central garden
restored by the brothers after many hours of labour.
On the 8th September, the celebration began with the blessing of the
New Corn. The assembly marched in procession and honoured the Infant
Mary. The Holy Eucharist was solemnised by Fr Andrew Anil Sequeira,
who broke the Word and the Bread for the gathering. Towards the end
of the Holy Mass, the Rector, Fr Denis Veigas, addressed the
faithful enlightening them about the origin of the ‘Monthi Fest’ at
our Monte Mariano Capuchin Covent, at Farangipet. He encouraged the
faithful to celebrate this feast in their homes with the presence of
all family members.
At lunch, the Fraternity of Deena Seva Ashram, gathered together as
one family to celebrate the Nativity of our Blessed Mother and the
Family feast. The agape started off with the sharing of the blessed
New Corn mixed into a sweet roce, followed by an elaborate course of
vegetarian dishes.
